Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does it cost to work with you?

Each of our services have standalone pricing in line with industry standards.

Financial Planning - a flat fee based on the complexity, and specific services requested.

Investment Management - an advisory "wrap" fee, starting at 1% of your managed investments.

Tax Strategy and Planning - a value-based fee. 15% of the estimated tax savings you would gain from the strategies we help you put in place.

  • What are your qualifications?

David Talley is a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Financial Consultant, and an IRS Enrolled Agent. He has been a client-facing financial advisor for 11 years and holds Series 7 and 66 investment licenses.

  • How will our relationship work? How often will we meet?

The meeting frequency varies depending on the assistance needed - from monthly to yearly. But we require at least one meeting with your financial advisor yearly to fulfill our fiduciary duty. However, as a comprehensive financial planning firm, Talley Financial typically communicates with clients many times throughout the year.

  • What financial areas can you help me with?

Our primary services include proactive tax planning, discretionary investment management, and comprehensive financial planning, which covers retirement income planning, insurance advice, estate planning, cash flow, debt management, and more.

  • Do you have a minimum investment requirement for client accounts?

    No.

Investment minimums enforce a minimum fee per household. For example, a 1% fee on a $250,000 account size would result in a minimum fee of $2,500. Some clients don’t need help with investment management, so they have zero investments with our firm. Instead, we might assist with another area like tax or retirement planning on a flat fee basis.

  • What is your investment philosophy?

This is an entire book, but two things stick out:

Owning income-producing assets (businesses, real estate, equities, etc.) is the only reliable way to outpace inflation and build real wealth.

As an investment advisor, I’ll help you take the right amount of risk. Exposing a client to more volatility than suits their personality and financial goals is a failure. At the same time, retreating to more safety than is in your best interest due to a lack of understanding is unproductive.

  • Are you a fiduciary all the time?

As a CFP Professional, David is required to always act as a fiduciary when providing financial advice. Many “fiduciary” advisors are only obligated to act as fiduciaries for each investment account they manage for you. This can be a confusing guideline in the industry, so it's important to ask specific questions about it.
